Interactive E-learning Modules

Step One: (For those participating in Virtual Reality training)

You will apply knowledge from interactive e-learning modules on Dementia Basics, Healthy Brains and Cognitive Care Planning and Evaluation.  These modules will prepare you to participate in an experiential learning viral reality training, working with a simulated geriatric patient with cognitive concerns.

*If participating in virtual reality, Cognitive Care Planning and Evaluation is a required pre-requisite.

Step two: Jump into Virtual reality (VR)

This is a computer-generated environment that simulates a realistic or imaginary situation.

Case scenario: Cognitive Care Planning and Evaluation.  Apply your knowledge and skills on a simulated patient with cognitive concerns. You will be able to experience the benefits of early diagnosis, analyze diagnostic tools and practices that assist in making a diagnosis, examine and interpret common tests performed in patients with memory concerns and construct dialogue for delivering a diagnosis.

*E-learning module “Cognitive Care Planning and Evaluation” is a pre-requisite requirement for this training.

 

Memory and/or Balance Community Screenings

Using the Brief Alzheimer’s Screening (BAS) tool (Optional add on)

Cleveland Clinic also offers the opportunity to gain community experience by conducting memory and/or balance screening with a community setting.  Receive training to provide free, community-based memory screenings at community health fairs, events and community-based service organizations.  These quick, noninvasive, confidential screenings, consisting of a series of questions and/or tasks which test cognitive functions, are an important tool to detect a potential memory problem.

Train-the-trainer Teaching/Community Experience Opportunity (Optional add on)

Gain community experience by becoming a trained facilitator in Cleveland Clinic Nevada’s new 6 Ways to Build Your Brain Health six-week workshop.  You will teach community members about the six pillars of brain health (exercise, nutrition, managing other medical conditions, sleep and relaxation, mental fitness, and social connection) an how simple lifestyle modifications  can reduce the risk of developing dementia by up to 45% in those with mild cognitive impairment and healthy individuals.
